One of St. Victoria’s best kept secrets is Whole Hearted Living. Led by parishioner Deb LeMay, these women’s groups are having a huge impact on the women who attend.

We asked Deb to share her thoughts on Whole Hearted Living. “Our groups provide a safe, supportive, enjoyable space for women to connect with God, themselves, and one another. Together we explore the mystery of God’s beautiful presence in our lives and in our experiences. Our format is an expanded model of group spiritual direction. Each of us on our own is already committed to prayer and self-reflection. Our facilitated small groups provide us with tools and resources to better understand ourselves, our patterns, and how we navigate our daily lives. What gets in my way of being open to God’s love and how God may be inviting me in any given situation? Am I free in my responses? Or, am I responding out of fear? By opening ourselves in this way we grow even deeper in our faith and in our connection to God.

We currently have five small groups meeting monthly, with one group meeting in the morning and four groups meeting in the evening to accommodate most schedules. Some of the topics we’ve covered include: trust, boundaries, fear, vulnerability, curiosity, and creativity.

As a spiritual care and integrative health practitioner, I am passionate about assisting others on their personal path towards wellness and healing. Through our faith we believe God is always present and always accessible. We have always had the ability to access God through our mind, body and spirit. As we learn to tap into this inner wisdom of God’s love and grace, we not only grow in faith, we experience our own emotional, physical and spiritual healing as well. “

Father Bob adds this about the groups,  “Whole Hearted Living provides an opportunity to explore and listen. In hearing stories of others, the participants can reflect on how they respond to situations that are easy to be reactive in. They have the chance to slow down and see how the spirit of God is moving. Awareness of themselves helps them know where God might be at work and how the spirit might be leading them. I’m so thankful for Deb LeMay’s work leading these groups. It’s an incredible gift for our parish to have group spiritual direction.”
