Last spring St.Victoria’s Parish Pastoral Council shared a video with the parish on the progress made on the various strategic projects within the parish. As a parish family, we celebrated the many initiatives that we as a faith community had already accomplished. There are over 70 ministries at St.Victoria and they all have one thing in common—they are the platform by which we live out our mission to reach out as the face and hands of Jesus.
In celebrating these accomplishments, the Parish Pastoral Council also launched an initiative last fall, the Parish Survey Project, to get the parish’s pulse on other possible ministry objectives. The entire parish was invited to participate in the survey which asked these two questions:
- What needs do we have in our community that are not being met by existing ministries?
- What can we do to meet these needs?
The survey also garnered demographic information such as age, gender, number of years with parish, and name (optional). After having the survey available on our parish website and in the bulletin for several weeks, we closed out with 170 responses. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated!
With the survey results in hand, the Parish Pastoral Council convened to pour over the survey responses. Of the 170 survey replies received, approximately ¼ of them (41) simply offered affirmation for our present course. Another ¼ (39) logged onto the survey but did not answer any of the questions. The remaining ½ (90) were reviewed and assigned to categories for possible ministry initiatives. At the same time, graphs were generated to reflect the demographics of the survey responses. The Parish Pastoral Council’s next step will be to review these responses and discern future ministry objectives for the parish.
